Chasing Comfort: My Quest for Chicken and Waffles Abroad
Craving Comfort Across Continents: My Hunt for Home in Every Bite When you’re thousands of miles from home, ensconced in a foreign culture with its
I’m a New York City native born and raised in Queens and Manhattan. I had sort of a gypsy upbringing as circumstances took me to 5 elementary schools in NYC.
I went to High School in the heart of Manhattan, where I majored in Marketing for four years. Traveling around the great island of Manhattan I ventured into districts of art, fashion, excessiveness, and outrageousness. I wandered the greatest city in the world.
I grew up in neighborhoods where everyone spoke more than one language. By the time I graduated High School I was becoming fluent in my third language. Surely I felt worldly. A curious explorer, wander luster in the makings.
In my early twenties, I moved my family to Miami. The sunshine state would become our home base. Although we have moved back to NYC throughout the last twenty years, for brief periods of time, Florida has remained what I call my hometown.
I had been working in Financial Services for 15 years, when I was offered a position overseas to be relocated to Amsterdam, I did not hesitate. My gypsy heart was full of excitement. The opportunity to be exposed to another culture and learn a new language. The possibilities of traveling around Europe for work and personal agendas were everything I had hoped for. I am going into my seventh-year journey of living overseas as an American Expat. Married to a foreign national now. Settled into my European life. This is where my blogger life begins.
Welcome to my American Expat Lifestyle.

The digital nomad lifestyle may have seemed a distant dream pre-pandemic times, but the world has gone remote. Working from anywhere you choose has become acceptable, and some employers are encouraging remote working now more than ever.
